Q: What were your inspirations for this project, and how did they align with the homeowner’s goals?
When we signed on to update and enlarge this stunning English Manor–style home, we soon realized that this unique project would become a labor of love. This beautiful older home, loved and lived in by now empty-nesters, received a total gut renovation to accommodate the homeowners’ needs as they age. It was important for our team to respect the original architecture during the update. As a result, we gutted the interior and reconfigured the floor plan, creating a large, modern kitchen for entertaining and a multi-room owner’s suite. The addition of an elevator and attached garage also allowed the clients to remain in their home indefinitely without concern for the challenges of walking up and down stairs.
Q: Why do you love this project?
The unique nature of this home is why we love it. Since the homeowners had lived in the home for so long, they were well aware of the updates they needed and wanted for the interior and exterior. For example, one of the most stunning aspects of the renovation was the addition of the new attached garage, along with a radiant-heated cobblestone driveway, so the couple never has to worry about slipping or falling during those icy winter months. The whole project was a real team effort, and the breathtaking results speak for themselves.
