If you’re like us, the Peabody Essex Museum’s new Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit is on your must-see list this year. The exhibit, titled Georgia O’Keeffe: Art, Image, Style, is made up of 125 paintings, photographs, and hand-sewn items of clothing that convey how the artist chose to craft her self image.
But before you know it, that day trip to Salem you’d been talking about will pass you by. After all, the exhibit is only on view until April 1, or for about eight more weekends. Some necessary prior planning makes a PEM visit the perfect excuse for a mini getaway, and thankfully, the Merchant’s got you covered. Once the home of prominent merchant Joshua Ward, the Merchant is now an 11-room boutique hotel that’s within walking distance to the PEM. And the hotel’s Georgia O’Keeffe package was made for New England’s die-hard O’Keeffe fans.
By adding $50 to any reservation, guests can take advantage of an O’Keeffe-inspired package. It’s complete with two tickets to the PEM (which include admission to the O’Keeffe exhibition), as well as a Georgia O’Keeffe adult coloring book, and a package of colored pencils. To book it, guests can call the Merchant at 978-745-8100 and mention the Georgia O’Keeffe package, or enter PEM in the “Notes and special requests” field when booking online.
