Conde Nast Traveler Says Boston Is the Third Best City in the Country
Only third?
Conde Nast Traveler unveiled its 32nd annual reader’s choice awards today, and the people have decided that Boston is the third best city in the country. Don’t be outraged at taking home the bronze—we beat out everything in California, Aspen, Honolulu, and New York City. That’s right, folks: It is official that we are better than New York City. The number 1 and 2 ranked cities were Chicago and Minneapolis, respectively.
The survey, which, according to the magazine, engaged a record number of 600,000 voters, ran online from April 1 to July 1 and asked readers to rate their favorite hotels, resorts, cruise lines, cities, airlines and more across the globe from Traveler’s database of 30,000 listings. For the first time this year, wellness retreats got a category (the best is in the Himalayas), and so did luxury train journeys.
Boston came out on top because we have “aged with style.” The write-up shouted out some of our classic tourist attractions, like the Freedom Trail and Fenway Park, but also gave nods to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Neptune Oyster. Also revealed in the survey were Boston’s best hotels, and the best hotels in New England.
Let’s all please remember how wonderful it is to live here when it’s mid-February.
