Cape Cod’s Ocean Edge Resort Is Turning into Hogwarts This Presidents’ Week
Accio the most perfect family vacay.
Still trying to nail down vacation plans for school-break week? Why not hop aboard the Hogwarts Express with the whole family in tow (or, you know, just get in your SUV) and head to Brewster, where Ocean Edge Resort is putting on its third annual Wizarding Week. The event, which runs from February 15 to 21, will bring activities and décor inspired by the Harry Potter universe to the seaside Cape Cod escape.
The magic begins the moment you set foot in the hotel’s beachside mansion, where the lobby will be transformed into Hogwarts castle’s Great Hall, and continues throughout the week with more than 35 complimentary activities geared toward young wizards and witches ages five to 13. On the first day of the experience, Ocean Edge’s very own sorting hat will place each of your family members into their proper Hogwarts house. Then it’s time to get crafty: The kids will have a chance to design their own wizard cloak and wand. Armed with the essentials, they’ll enjoy a week-long extravaganza which includes screenings of all eight Harry Potter films and events such as a game of Quidditch at one of the resort’s indoor pools, potions and charms classes, and the “Tri-Wizard House Challenge,” a Harry Potter trivia match. When it’s time for some grub, apparate on down to the hotel’s tavern-style eatery, Bayzo’s Pub, which will serve as Hogsmeade’s Hog’s Head pub for the week, complete with on-theme menus offering dishes like Gillyweed Garden Salad, Mrs. Weasley’s Spaghetti & Meatballs, and Dementor Donut Fritters.
While certainly no one would blame you if you wanted to tag along for the week’s enchanting events (though if your brood is hoping to fly solo, we might suggest donning an invisibility cloak), Ocean Edge also offers plenty activities for muggles and adults alike. While the kids are learning the fundamentals of spellcasting, you can sign up for a yoga, spinning, or Pilates class, relax or swim laps in one of two heated indoor pools, or pay a visit to the on-site spa for facials, massages, pedicures, and more.
Ready to book? Make like a Firebolt broomstick and act fast: The two- and three-bedroom private villa accommodations on the property are currently under renovation, but luxurious suites at the mansion are still available starting at $195 per night.
