“Weddings are beautiful and everyone wants everything perfect, but your hair and dress is something you can play with,” says Michelle Lee, co-owner of Salon Eva Michelle on Newbury Street. She and her partner Eva Mustafai coif dozens of brides each season, so they know the biz inside and out.
“Nowadays everyone does much more creative photography and videography [during their wedding] to have that reality show-like moment. This is so great! I feel like the whole look, including hair, makeup and the dress, can be more playful now.”

Reminiscent of embroidery and lace, Mustafai married two different types of braids (traditional and waterfall) to create textures. This is a very romantic style typically used for longer hair, but short hair gals, don’t suffer tress stress. You can always add extensions to create more fullness or add length.

This is true boho chic. Using textures like knots, loops, and twists, Lee crafted the perfectly undone look. You can easily add a gorgeous headpiece or weave tiny blossoms throughout this playful and whimsical style.

Don’t ever worry about growing out short hair for your wedding, unless your dream is of luscious locks behind a cascading veil. If you have a great cut, you can dress it up simply. Lee took waves and accented them with a simple accessory used in a creative way. Think unique bridal combs or delicately adorned bobby pins.
